Converting a Member to Readonly and Back
How to toggle a member between full and readonly status and how this affects your seat count and billing.
You can convert an existing full member to readonly, or promote a readonly member to full status, at any time from Team Management.
Converting a Member to Readonly
- Go to Team Management → Employees.
- Find the member you want to convert.
- Click ... → Convert to Readonly.
- Confirm the action.
The change takes effect immediately. The member loses the ability to submit updates and comment on the DSM Board, but retains read access to the boards and dashboards.
Billing Impact When Converting to Readonly
Converting a member to readonly frees up a billable seat. On a monthly billing cycle, you receive a prorated credit for the remainder of the current period. On annual billing, the credit applies proportionally.
Your next invoice will reflect the reduced seat count.
Converting a Readonly Member to Full
- Go to Team Management → Employees.
- Find the readonly member.
- Click ... → Convert to Full Member.
- Confirm the action.
The member immediately gains full access — Daily Updates, commenting, and all member capabilities. A prorated charge is applied to your account for the remainder of the current billing period, and your seat count increases by one.
Requirements
- Your org must be on the Business plan to have readonly members
- Only Admins and Owners can change member status
